Uvira is a city located at Eastern DR Congo, with a population of about 700 000 people (statics of 2014).
It was evangelised 100 years ago, but because of colonisation, the first missionaries did not really work enough to present the Kingdom of God holistically, even though, it was a very good work, people saved and are heading to heaven but did not have the clue on the kingdom establishment of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ ( one people under God), that is why the country experienced a lot of conflicts amongst even Christian people, and up to now. On top of that, politicians used this weakness and exploited also the people and country itself.

Even though the Hope is only in Jesus, but the message was not appropriate to support unity, peace, mindset change, leadership, Management and development.
Uvira by itself, has many churches including: Pentecostal churches ( 8e CEPAC, Methodist , Mennonite, Baptist, independent, charismatic evangelical churches, catholic,…), but since then, not even one Christian radio has ever been implanted, so the need is so big.
Christians in Uvira can listen Christian message over the radio from Bujumbura at times, or local community radios that have some spaces bought by some pastors who preach for 30 minutes, which are not also verified on the sound doctrine or no.
So the need for local Christian radio is very high.

What do we do to attract many quality listeners ? ( Strategy )
On top of preaching the word of the Lord and nice music, we are having some other programs:
On top of preaching the word of the Lord and nice music, we are having some other programs:
- Providing in Community education in the areas such as, Hygiene and health( Cholera, Ebola virus, HIV, Hepatitis, Malaria), family Planning, Moral values, and Christian world news which is not the focus of other radios around.
- Advocate for peace and reconciliation using Biblical Approach.
- Leadership , Stewardship and Management
- Finances and home budgeting to help Christian families and communities on how to spend, save, plan for the future- still using biblical approach.
- And also exposing the local people to international Biblical world view so that they may see Christianity as Global picture not only local.
Secondly; we have a street program called " Metanoia Mitaani" in kiswahili, ( “Metanoia on street”) to bring the gospel outside and connect communities and
families to the radio.
Richard, is a Street program Manager who goes in Offices and on street to talk to people about Jesus, Christian views, what do they believe about different aspect whereby the Bible is very clear while recording, then later it goes through the air.
the topics like poverty, water and sanitation, issues on the mindset.

Our challenges that need your prayer :
We understand that we have a big vision, and we can only grow in stages:
So Phase 1: from 2014 to 2019 – Having a proper established FM radio covering strongly Uvira city and surrounding villages.
Phase 2 : from 2019 and beyond – having a short wave transmitter going beyond this space and local Christian television.
These are the priority needs at this point: ( Phase 1 still ).
1. 4 legged 25m high self-supporting COMMUNICATION TOWER MAST
2. Phantom microphone
3. CD player
4. Training of our members of staff
5. Need for networking with other strong Christian Radios to develop our experience.
6. increase the transmitter power to 300 watts or beyond.
